Kosher Diet and Weight Loss Meals

                                                       Eggplant Rollatini – 260 calories

The name of the product certainly does catch ones attention.  Add to that—it is diet friendly, heat and serve, and kosher—a winning combination. Prepared healthy meals for those who wish to concentrate on their dietary needs are indeed scarce when kashrut is a consideration.

Get Healthy America, located in Plainview, New York, was founded and is owned by Debbie Cohen. Her goal was to create a line of healthy, kosher and single serve meals that taste good. It was always a dream of Debbie's to create her own line of foods and be able to help people who need a quick, tasty and healthy meal. She had lost a lot of weight on her own and felt that she was able to help others do so as well.

Started over eleven years ago, the company has developed an extensive variety of  healthy diet meals that are made with fresh, wholesome ingredients, and contain no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. They are low fat, have no trans fats  and also include gluten free and wheat free selections. The single–serve portions are 10 to 13 ounces and contain 330 calories or less. Keep them in the freezer and pop into the microwave and you have a meal in minutes.

"We have always catered to the weight loss and dietary needs of our customers. The latest evolution in our mission is the creation of a proprietary line of Get Healthy America meals, which are both healthy and kosher. Included are Gluten Free and Wheat Free kosher meals to meet the needs of an increasing number of individuals who have celiac disease or are sensitive to gluten and wheat in their diets", said Debbie.  She is currently developing an international line of filled crepes.

Three of the Get Healthy America meals were selected as first place winners at Kosherfest 2008, New Product category competition:

  • Kosher Turkey Chili with Beans:  Best Meat, Poultry or Seafood Product
  • Kosher Eggplant Rollatini:  Best Dairy Product
  • Kosher Gluten Free Brown Rice Penne Pasta: Best Health and Wellness Product

Debbie sent KosherEye several meals to sample; they arrived in their frozen state and we put them directly into the freezer. We tried them for both lunch and dinner and found them to be easy to prepare, convenient, eye appealing, filling, and most important – very good!  We especially loved the Vegetarian Meatless Chili with Beans and Brown Rice, Turkey Vegetable Meatloaf and Eggplant Rollatini.

The Get Healthy America meals have breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack categories. They are ideal for someone who is on a diet – just like the weight loss programs advertised on TV, which offer prepared meal plans. If you have a family member, or visitor, with special dietary issues, keep some of these meals in your freezer. If you work, or are very busy, and want to maintain a healthy life style and have few options for lunch, this is for you. Or best of all, just keep healthy One Meal at a Time, and have these in your freezer.

All products are certified kosher by either the OU or Star K.

The Get Healthy America products are available for purchase in their Plainview, NY retail store and in many supermarkets in the New York metropolitan area.  A second retail store in Roslyn, NY  will be opening in the next few weeks.
