|Cuisinart Food Processor|
Elite Collection™, The Gold Standard
KosherEye has several Cuisinart Food Processors and would you believe, they are older than some of our children! Like the Energizer Bunny, our old Cuisinart keeps going and going and going. This is a product that, for us, has proven to be built to last.
Cuisinart has introduced a completely redesigned model , the Elite Collection™ that boosts many new and exciting features. KosherEye recently tested this new, innovative design and wondered −how can the company improve on a winning product?
The model we used is the 14-Cup Cuisinart Elite Collection™, FP-14 Series. The design is modern and, if we had to pick one feature that intrigued us, it would be the nested 3-bowl feature − 11 and 4 1/2-cup work bowls are nested inside the 14-cup bowl. It is like having 3 food processors in one!
KosherEye decided to test this new wonder during Passover. Our intention was to have one single kitchen tool that would do all of the chopping, blending, dicing, etc. For example, just like our mothers and grandmothers before us, when preparing charoset, we traditionally hand−chop the walnuts and hand−grate the apples. This year we deviated from tradition. Using the small 4 1/2-cup bowl, we quickly pulsed the walnuts−they were perfect. Next, we removed the small bowl, and inserted a reversible shredding disk into the 11-cup work bowl. Like magic, the apples were shredded. It was quick, easy, produced perfect results, and we still had a clean bowl left.
We continued by grating potatoes for a potato kugel. Again, it was quick and easy. The Elite Collection™ features a blade locking system™ which keep the blades from falling out when the bowl is removed from the base. We really liked that feature.
Our recipe for brisket required the use of a hand-held immersion blender to puree the cooked gravy. As we were not going to use any other kitchen tool, we poured the gravy into the 14-cup work bowl and proceeded to blend it. It produced perfectly blended gravy.
Some additional standout features: A locking system for the blades; keeps the blades in place when the bowl is removed from the base. The new locking system also applies to the work bowl cover; the tight seal does not allow any liquids to spill out via the cover and each work bowl has a spout. We didn't have any spillage when pouring the gravy back over the brisket.
The attachments for the food processor are housed in an accessory storage case, which for us, makes keeping everything together and compact.
• Easy On/Off Locking System with Push-Button Release; Powerful 1000-Watt Peak Power Motor
As we asked ourselves prior to testing the Elite Collection™ 14-cup wonder, how can the company improve on a winning product? It appears they have! We love the new model; it works for just about everything. If you purchase one new item, do consider the Cuisinart Elite Collection™ 14-cup Food Processor. It has certainly set the standard, and yes, it even whips cream!
